The Fat Frog Story Reveal

Fat Frog Models started the way most good things start in this hobby — at a workbench, with a kit that was almost perfect but not quite there.

After years of building model kits, the shortcomings of injection‑moulded parts start to stand out. Chain links appear flat and stamped. Wheel spokes look overly thick. Radiator cores are reduced to blank plastic. The kits are superb—but the finer details still leave room for improvement.

Since 2019, as 3D printing technology has advanced, we introduced our first 1/72 scale track sets as single-piece prints, achieving a level of detail comparable to 1/35 scale. The following year, we developed our first clickable 3D-printed individual link tracks, offering even higher detail along with easier assembly. In that same year, we also began producing 3D-printed chain sets, making finely detailed chains more accessible and affordable. While we may not have been the first to create such innovative products, our deep knowledge and passion for scale modeling drive us to develop practical detailing sets that help modelers build beautiful, high-quality kits.

The name? A fat frog sitting on a lily pad — patient, precise, and waiting for exactly the right moment to strike. That felt about right for the kind of modelling we care about.
