The Fat Frog Story

Fat Frog Models started the way most good things start in this hobby — at a workbench, with a kit that was almost perfect but not quite there.

After years of building 1/12 motorcycle and 1/24 automotive kits, the limitations of injection-moulded parts become obvious. Chain links that look stamped flat. Wheel spokes that are too thick. Radiator cores that are just... blank plastic. The kits are excellent — but the details can be better.

So we started making them. Photo-etched brass chain and sprocket sets. Turned aluminium rims with the right spoke count and correct proportions. Radiator grilles with actual depth. Every part is designed as a direct drop-in replacement for specific kits — no guesswork, no filing-to-fit.

The name? A fat frog sitting on a lily pad — patient, precise, and waiting for exactly the right moment to strike. That felt about right for the kind of modelling we care about.
